We at Reeves are proud to have been in business for over 30 years, however we have been in the cake business for far longer! It all started with Ada and Bill Bachtel who owned Bachtel's Bakery circa 1920's. Through the years she continued to create cakes for the community. She passed the love of cake decorating on to her daughter Dolores, and they became a team. In 1976 Dolores and her husband Robert Reeves opened Reeves Cake Top Shop. At the time the store was located on 2204 East Avenue in Kenmore and was started as a cake and candy supplies store while Dolores still baked and decorated cakes.

In 1983 the decision was made to change the focus of the business from a supply store to a specialty bakery. We moved to 2770 Cory Ave. in 1989, our current location. Throughout the years we have continued making cakes the same way that Ada did over 70 years ago. It starts with quality ingredients - no mixes, and making sure that all of the cakes are fresh and never frozen. In fact, several of the recipes that we use today are the same that have been in our family for over 80 years!
Dolores has trained under master decorators throughout the country. She is a qualified master decorater in the Wilton method as well as the Lambeth method. For many years Dolores gave classes teaching cake decorating to hundreds of people in the Akron area. The styles of wedding cakes have changed over the years, but we at Reeves are continually learning and mastering new techniques while keeping the standard of excellence that we have maintained throughout the years.

We still continue to be a family bakery. Dolores, her son Rick, daughter Terry, and grandaughter Amanda are the everyday employees. Dolores' son Ron is our wedding cake delivery man and we have a host of other family members that help out during our busy seasons.

2007 and 2008 picked as the 'best of the knot' a national website devoted to weddings. Based on revies by local brides we were picked as one of the best bakeries in the Akron area.
